Va Rodríguez has been in charge of a family dairy farm since 2000, which has been in operation since the 1970s and is now in its 3rd generation.
Located in the parish of Dordaño (municipality of Oza-Cesuras), it has been ecologically certified since December 2017. It currently has 42 heads (60% in lactation) and an annual production around 120,000 kg of milk, whose marketing channels face to organic dairy industry UHT.
The feeding of animals is based on non-grazing, relying on weathering and more adverse in grass silage and small percentages of organic cereal concentrates.
With a territorial base of 45 hectares (60% owned and 40% leased or transferred), it aims at an organic milk production that is also sustainable by traveling as little as possible to external inputs. A good part of the current grazing area was obtained with the conversion of land previously dedicated to forest production of fast-growing species.
The objective is to try to grow up to a maximum allowed by the ecological regulation (2 UGM / ha), always from the perspective of sustainability and the defense of a dignified agricultural activity in its contour.
Eva works with the support of a salaried person and the timely collaboration of students in practices of agricultural training centers.
