The Shire of Betanzos is one of the areas with the greatest winemaking tradition in Galicia, and José Antonio Beade and his family are among those few winemakers who have allowed to maintain to this day this tradition that continue the generations that already come from behind.
“We produced table wine, and the creation of the Viño Protected Geographical Indication of the #Terra of Betanzos back in 2000 came to represent a great boost for us and in general for all winemakers, encouraging the modernization of our small traditional wineries. It also meant having to replant with quality varieties, improve the cultivation of the wine, the treatments, even the production of the wine itself with more modern techniques”.
“Our challenge is that the consumer approaches our wines with curiosity, they are new wines, fresh and that do not hide their origin, because through the wine we can identify the characteristics of our soils and our climate.”
“Years ago, before replanting with quality varieties was made, Betanzos wine did not have very good are, but more and more people are discovering the potential and quality that we have.. this is no longer like before!”
Currently, most of the winery’s operations are in the hands of José Bouzón Beade, the third generation of Casa Beade winegrowers.
